Injuries take toll on truckers and their sick time
Injuries put the brakes on some Saskatchewan truckers in 2013.
According to Statistics Canada, the two occupations in which fulltime Saskatchewan employees took the most time off work were transportation and warehousing (16.7 days) and health-care (16.0 days). Drivers and warehouse workers have a high number of back and leg injuries, said Al Rosseker, executive director of the Saskatchewan Trucking Association (STA).
“It’s the lifting and the twisting … particularly on the truck driving side, these guys are in and out of a cab, which is a number of feet off the ground and there’s slips and falls,” he said….(read more)
